Arrived in Dubrovnik about 11 am and dropped off at the Old Town with pickup scheduled for 3.30 pm. It was very, very hot and town very crowded ( 3 cruise ships in port) but fasinating place, first settled in the 7th Century and with an amazingly checkered history, most recently being shelled in the war in 1991-92. Some of that damage remains but much has been restored. We walked the city wall route (about 2 km) which was incredibly hot 30+ degrees and sunny so we had to resort to Japanese style umbrella use, spent sometime in the central street (Stradun) and around the old port area, before retiring to an internet café for some cool and calm and then café for cold beer. Fortunately return van was much newer model with superb driver.
On arrival back at apt at about 6.30 pm we dived off the end of the pier into cool sea, so nice after a hot sticky day. Lyndsay has been practicing her diving skills learned from Rob in France in 2000 !!
We finished watching some of the Michael Jackson Memorial from LA on our “sat” TV then off for a late meal and then to bed with aircond on again.
