After leaving the YHA hostel we continued the Royal theme and A&K&H went to visit the ex -Royal Yacht Britannia which is moored in Edinburgh before heading south on the A1 down the Northumberland coast before a detour in the early evening to Anthony Gormley’s Angel of the North sculpture just south of Gateshead which is a pretty inspiring sight, before continuing south and onto the North Yorkshire Moors through Helmsley, where the church bells were ringing to our next hostel in the old schoolhouse in the village of Lockton. Probably the smallest we stayed in with one male and one female dormitory and 2 family rooms and the village still has working farms with cows which walk through the one street early in the morning. We breakfasted with nice couple from Perth ( Oz) traveling with 2 young daughters.
