Tuesday July 7th Journey to Dubrovnik for the day

Tuesday July 7th To Dubrovnik for the day-the drive there along Peljesac Peninsula.
Phone call at 6a m from Anne in Auckland with my PUK number which successfully unlocked phone-what a relief. Another early start as pickup at 7.15 am to head for ferry to Orebic on the mainland (15 min) and then approx 2 hour drive to Dubrovnik. Others with us on the day trip were 2 Slovenians, 2 Swedes and 2 Americans living in Germany plus a lunatic driver who treated the speed limit as a minimum, the rev counter as something to be pushed to the limit in every gear, brakes only to be used as a last resort and following distance generally about 2 m. Along with a winding road above really very steep drops it made for a fairly exciting trip especially as we were sitting in front next to the driver.
Several interesting places on the way. Small town of Trstenik set right down the bottom of the hills and the 14th century walls above Ston build to defend the northern border of the then Dubrovnik republic. There are also large salt pans here.
